Ennahda and the CPR are on the brink of a final break up. Leaders simply trade small quips and they are already locked into a harsh and unforgiving fray
Just yesterday, Mr. Mohamed Abbou, Secretary General of CPR, made comments clearly demarcating its link with its ally Ennahdha. He strongly criticized Mr. Rafik Abdesslam, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is at the centre of a series of revelations which have been baptised as Sheratongate which is supported by investigative journalism, based on objective data. Giving a nod to blogger Olfa Riahi,. who has updated those revelations. At the same time, Mr. Abbou warned against the foundations of Ennahdha peddling rumors about the reputation of others.
On the opposition side, again, the ball is being redeployed. It is rumoured that the Al- Joumhouri party would yield to the siren song of Ennahdha, if offered ministerial portfolios. Suddenly, the broad coalition that is going to form the party against Nida Tounès around it is experiencing serious cracks in the building.
And one wonders if the wait in the reshuffle is not exactly deliberate. Thus, Ennahda and others have time to reorganize the ban and ban the rear of alliances.Ditto for the revelations that target certain ministers caught in the interlacing crossfire between friends. Here as elsewhere, the question of legitimacy hangs over the crisis . Official justifications are irrelevant. The people who are bled white are all the more disappointed because they were promised the moon. The circumstantial electoral argument is, in the long run, counterproductive.
Meanwhile, the government seems to stall in its intermediate state. On one side, are facts disavowed by the force of things, on the other, promises and expectations still pending. Hence the impression of incompleteness that characterises politics in recent weeks.
