Mr. Elyes Fakhfakh, from the Ettakatol Party, has been appointed, on Wednesday, by Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali as Finance Minister. He will carry on "for the time being" as tourism minister a communiqué of the Prime Ministry announced.

The Prime Ministry had entrusted Secretary of State to Finance Slim Besbes with the position of caretaker Finance Minister, following Mr. Houcine Dimassi's resignation, on July 27,2012, TAP reported.
A cabinet reshuffle has been rumoured to be in the offing for sometime.
Elyes Fakhfakh was born in Tunis in 1972. He graduated from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon. He worked for Total in Europe, America and Asia, and from 2004 onwards in Poland. In 2004, he joined Cortrel, a Tunisian leaf spring manufacturing company, and later became its Deputy Director General.He became the minister of tourism on 20 December 2011.
