After Ennahda, the CPR is is the second-largest party in Tunisia's constituent assembly, with 29 of the 214 seats.The opposition has called for the government to stand down and four groups - including the Popular Front and Nida Tounes have pulled out of the constituent assembly.
Prime Minister Hamid Jebali's call for a cabinet reshuffle has been rejected by many in the Ennhada party and some leagal experts have said that in their view the proposed ministerial reshuffle may still have to be approved by the National Consituent Assembly. Mr Jebali has said that if the proposed reshuffle is rejected he would resign and warned of the ensuing chaos.
Rachid Ghannouchi, leader of the Ennahda party, said that a new government is expected to be announced in two or three days, according to a report by AP.
