The Government signed with Morocco Telecom, a fourth investment agreement in the amount of 10 billion dirhams for the period from 2013 to 2015 on Wednesday in Rabat, during a ceremony presided over by the Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane.

The agreement was signed by the Ministers of Economy and Finance Nizar Baraka and Trade and New Technologies, Abdelkader Amara on the Government side, and the CEO of Morocco Telecom, Mr. Ahizoune.
This fourth investment program, which will generate the creation of 500 permanent jobs, aims to "replace all mobile equipment to be accompanied by digital technology for broadband. Needless to say it will also cover the optical fibre extension to bring it to the user and thus allow extremely high speeds that go beyond 100 megabits per second, "he told reporters Morocco Telecom CEO of the press, following the signing ceremony.
Mr Ahizoune added that theis involved a total and radical renewal of existing technologies which woud result in a larger number of users with greater capacity and high throughput, for the benefit of the information society and new digital technologies.
Abdelkader Amara said that this agreement through strengthening the basic telecommunications infrastructure and the development of a number of services related to e-government is a very important goal for the country.
Mr. Benkirane welcomed the confidence and the important contribution of the telecommunications group in the national economy, reaffirming the commitment of the government to support its investment activities. He affirmed that the government aimed this convention to support the information society and electronic infrastructure meet the growing needs of citizens while moving up to international standards.
