The Pentagon has set up combat units for special operations dedicated to hunting Islamist AQIM throughout North Africa. A unit of US navy seals was used in the killing of Osama Bin Laden in May 2011.
According to U.S. media reports citing WND intelligence published by Geostrategy-Direct, the Maghreb and the Middle East now join the area of the Persian Gulf, as a new priority for U.S. military operations.
