Demonstrations began in Benghazi over National Congress President Mohamed Magarief’s announcement of a $200 million development package during his visit to Tunisia.

The move sparked protests on the streets and online, with objectors describing the move as “a waste of public money” and calling into question president Magarief’s authority to make such a decision in the first place.
However officials pointed out that this aid was actually a loan granted by the previous Libyan National Transitional Government to Tunisia at the time of the extradition of former Gaddafi Prime Minister Baghdadi Al-Mahmoudi.It was
rumoured that the extradition was rewarded by cut price oil and promises of invesrtments,this was denied by the Justice Minister at the time Noureddine Bhiri . The Libyan Herald reports that similar inducements were said to have been offered to Mauritania following the extradition of Abdallah Senussi Gadaffi's security chief and son inlaw.
