The individual was arrested in a small village in Kabyle called Cheurfa. He is called Salah Gasmi alias Mohamed Abou Salah.He is spokesman for the Algerian Islamist movement AQIM and its vice chief.

Algerian police detected him after he was dennounced in the village of Cheurfa 50 km Bouira in Kabylie, Algerian media reported citing sources in power.
Sunday at 14 pm local time, the alleged AQMI operative was arrested by the Algerian police officers outside a restaurant in the village and he was taken to an unknown destination.
Salah Gasmi, from Biskra, is presented by the Algerian secret services as an expert in computers and communication.
He is said to be the coordinator for relevant AQIM factions and various attendant Algerian violent propaganda movements.He is accused by the Algerian authorities of masterminding the suicide attacks in Algeria in 2007.
