Lahcen Daoudi: The government to end free higher education

Lahcen Daoudi said that the government will end free higher education In an interview with L’Economiste, he announced the government's decision to remove free higher education and  to end the system of promotion of teachers on the criterion of seniority in order to improve the quality of university education.
 
"Today we have another serious problem, which is free higher education in our country. We can not continue with this logic"  the minister said that there will however  be support for the poor. "We are willing to support poor students from lower middle classes, but it is time that households which can afford to do so, contribute to the effort of the community," said the minister.
 
Moreover, the minister said it was "indispensable" to improve the quality of higher education, to permanently end the system of promotion of teachers on the criterion of seniority and replace it and a promotion system; stating that the new criteria will include the number of publications in academic journals.
 
Daoudi also proposes to change the current university system based on the semester and  to end the confusion between  masters and diplomas from universities and stop the current inflation  in masters degrees.
