The former Junta and its associates seem to have retained some influence and Bamako seems divided on the matter. The newspaper Mali Demain notes that senior ECOWAS officials Aly Coulibaly and Djibril Bassolé visited Mali on Wednesday to see President Dioncounda Traoré but the paper says that the majority of Malians remain
resolutely opposed to the ECOWAS deployment and without Mali's full support it would be doomed to failure.
