UK Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt is to pay a visit to Algeria on Sunday and Monday, meant to boost cooperation between the two countries.

The visit, which comes a few weeks after UK Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit to Algeria (January 30-31), will focus on bilateral and regional security issues, including the establishment of a new strategic, security partnership between the United Kingdom and Algeria, a British diplomatic source said Saturday.
During his stay in Algeria, Burt will meet several ministers, including Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel.
Discussions will encompass a wide range of regional issues, such as security in the Sahel, Syria and Libya, in addition to trade, the source added.
